Thankful for My Eyes

I’ve been pretty blessed when it comes to eyesight. It seems like most of my family wears glasses or contacts, and I’ve been lucky enough to have great vision without any enhancements so far. Unfortunately, my significant other is not so lucky. Right now, the two of us are saving up for his Lasik surgery, which isn’t going to be cheap. His regular eye doctor told him that he shouldn’t even consider a center that charges less than $2000 per eye.
Could somebody remind me again why we’re not living in some country where the medical expenses are at least moderately affordable? In what kind of twisted system is it just to have technologies like that and not share them with everyone who works and pays taxes within the society?

…with a high limit credit card. As a general rule, I try not to shop unless I need something specific. Remember folks, happiness is not getting what you want, but wanting what you’ve got. I find that shopping makes me want a bunch of things I don’t need, all while spending less time when the people and animals I love.
Even still, I’m no saint. Sometimes, I get bored on a cool autumn day and find myself driving around aimlessly until I wind up at the mall. After today’s little trip, all I can think about is a new keywords, a new laptop, a cute wallet, and some new jeans. The jeans aren’t entirely unpractical, since I live in them, but it’s not like I need them. What do you do when you find yourself tempted to spend money unnecessarily?
Self-Employed Insurance

One of the biggest downsides to being self-employed is buying your own insurance. I’ve purchased my own health and dental for some time now, but it recently occurred to me that I might want to think about some form of life insurance. I have a couple of pets, and I definitely want to make sure they’d be well cared-for if anything happened. I’d probably arrange for the money to go to the family member who would care for them.
The problem is that I really don’t know much about life insurance, and the Internet seems like a really bad place to research it. All I see are ads and pages that people have SEO’d to get to the top of the rankings. If I wanted term life insurance quotes, I’d be set. Unfortunately, I want real information first. Any tips?

I’ve been considering a few changes to my bathroom lately - namely, the wallpaper and bathroom lighting. At present, the room looks a bit like a detention cell, which is certainly not flattering. Undressing near the full-length mirror can be downright depressing in that light, and the greenish wallpaper casts a sickly hue upon your body. Altogether unpleasant.
I can’t make up mind on what color the room should be, though. I do think I should go with some kind of rose-hued lighting, though. I’ve been told that it’s much more flattering for almost anyone.

When I’m thick in the middle of writing, I have no regrets about the path I’ve taken. I love not going to a job every day, I love writing and reading as much as I please, and I love having the freedom to travel whenever, and wherever I please.
Of course, there are other times that make me wish I had taken the fancy corporate job with the fancy corporate paychecks. Mostly, those times involve trips to Best Buy. Invariably, I’ll go in for something simple and find myself mesmerized by huge televisions and thoughts of fancy theater rooms with plush chairs and popcorn machines.
Then I go home to my place and realize that it’s a beautiful day and I’m not at work…that makes up for it.
